Pioneer Center Youth Programs
Who we are -
Pioneer Center Youth Programs is the educational outreach division of the
Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts.
What we do -
We present live
performing arts programs in elementary schools and
public library branches throughout northern Nevada.
Programs are available to all public, private, charter,
and Montessori elementary schools within a 100-mile
radius of Reno. These culturally-rich programs
emphasize artistic quality, educational value, and
audience participation.
Why we do it -
We are
committed to the belief that the arts are an essential
part of every child's education and that a person's love
and appreciation for the arts stems from his or her
earliest experiences. By bringing our artists directly
into the schools and libraries, we facilitate an
up-close, personal interaction with the arts that many
children would otherwise never receive! As these
children grow into adulthood, they will fondly remember
these early experiences and will continue to make the
arts a part of their lives. For just
$200, you
can give a school
the gift of art!
Praise for Pioneer Center

“Thank you for helping us put on such a tremendous
Multicultural Day and for providing such wonderful
and culturally enriching entertainment choices for
our schools. Keep up the great (and important) work!
Looking forward to next year!”
- PTA Member, Roy Gomm Elementary, Reno
"I learned that people
from everywhere are different, but in an awesome
way."
-5th
Grade Student, Bordewich Bray Elementary, Carson
City
“The students loved the program. They continued to
share their thoughts the next day. Some students
even told me of doing the tricks at home. They were
very involved throughout the program and sat with
anticipation for the next trick. I feel the show was
as close to perfect for elementary students as
possible.”
-2nd
Grade Teacher, Hugh Gallagher Elementary, Virginia
City
“We believe the annual Pioneer Center performances
enrich our students’ understanding of the cultural
wealth of talents and expertise we have in Nevada
and our local community.”
- Principal, Mountain View Montessori School, Reno
“Fantastic presentation. The kids were engaged and
entertained. Very motivating for students in sports,
art, and other areas of school. Great use of active
participation strategies. Very dynamic and
inspirational – imagination is so important for
students to have.”
-4th Grade Teacher, Pinon Hills
Elementary, Minden
“The program taught important life lessons like
appreciation of nature and appreciation of others. I
liked when the audience was able to play instruments
and interact with the stories.”
